Prayer Shawl Ministry

Please join us for our new prayer shawl ministry group beginning on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 7 pm in the Upper Room of Father Curran Hall. We will meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month.

Prayer Shawls are made with prayers and blessings for the recipient and those intentions are continued throughout the creation of the shawl. Upon completion, the prayer shawl is given a final blessing by a Priest. Prayer shawls are distributed to our sick and homebound throughout the year.

Lisa Rymdeko will teach knitting and crocheting to those who would like to learn. She will provide patterns and needles to get you started. Please bring 3 skeins of either bulky (no. 5 or 6 yarn) with size 13, 24” circular needles; or no. 3 sport weight yarn with size 8 circular needles, 24 inches. If you already knit or crochet please join us for an evening of prayer and creativity. You do NOT need to have needles the first night. Lisa will have extra for you to try.

We have given out over 400 prayer shawls the last several years. Mary Trauger, who made the majority of them is no longer able to create her beautiful shawls. We thank her for all of her work and will keep her in our prayers. We will pray or listen to prayerful music as we work together.
